My story

The story of a kid who doesn't leave things half-done

From teaching AutoCAD in 2003 to returning as CEO of Webtures in 2026: the dated chapters of my story, shortened and translated from Turkish.

2003-2009 · Beginnings

  1. 2003

University. I started Actuarial Science at Marmara University and soon realised it was the wrong start for me. University took seven years, but it pushed me to look for other things.

  2. 2003

What a spam email can do. A “buy one course, get one free” email took me to Üsküdar, and with my father's approval I signed up for four courses: 3ds Max, AutoCAD, Photoshop and web design.

  3. 2003

The actuary among engineers. Nobody expected the least likely student to excel at AutoCAD. At the end of the course I asked the director if I could teach; half an hour later I was teaching a student who had been waiting for months.

  4. 2008

AutoCADHocasi.com. Business cards and word of mouth only go so far, so I launched my own website, named after my title, “hoca” (teacher).

  5. 2009

Learning search with AutoCAD Hocası. By ranking first for dozens of AutoCAD terms, I started learning search engine optimisation by trial, error and strategy, without knowing it would become the basis of SEO Hocası.

  6. 2009

SEO Hocası. When I felt I had peaked in AutoCAD, I moved to a more competitive field where I could use what I had learned: search.

2011-2019 · Building

  1. 2011

First job. Two offers came as the book was about to come out; I somehow convinced both to let me split my week between them. I never received a full salary; my whole payroll history is twenty days.

  2. 2011

Webtures. The real adventure began: hardship, ups and downs, mistakes, lessons, losses and gains. It started in a 30 m² first office.

  3. 2011

A smear campaign. My name and all my ventures were targeted on hundreds of forums in a single day. It taught me not to be shaken by things that do not matter.

  4. 2012

Learning management the hard way. I learned management by living through the worst of it first, while teaching AutoCAD, a job I would have done for life even without pay.

  5. 2014

Girişimci Kafası. I started Girişimci Kafası to share what I had learned building a business: the problems, and the perspective I developed. I made most content myself before handing it to the team.

  6. 18 October 2014

My first conference talk. My first conference talk was in İzmir, at a one-day search conference hosted by Ege University's technology transfer office. The recording is on YouTube.

  7. 2016

The first 250,000 followers. Girişimci Kafası reached its first 250,000 followers: content I started to share my own experience had become a community followed by hundreds of thousands of entrepreneurs.

  8. 2016

The biggest crisis. A crisis around SEO Hocası spread across every platform. I had to manage, hold up or protect myself, my team, our clients and my family, while dealing with speculative news and distortions.

  9. 8 November 2016

A company's most valuable capital is its team. The team in that photo were among my biggest supporters during the crisis; they greeted me at the office this way to lift my spirits.

  10. 2016

Startup Türkiye. When a Facebook startup group would not let me post about the crisis, I founded the Startup Türkiye group, which grew to more than 60,000 members.

  11. 2016

Twenty years of lessons in two weeks. That crisis made me weigh the short and long-term side effects of everything I plan.

  12. 2017

Opening our experience to new startups. Through Webtures' Dijital Melek programme we offered startups services and mentoring; in its second round in 2017, five startups were selected, with no fee or equity asked.

  13. February 2019

Personal brand. In the early days of SEO Hocası I preferred to stay in the background. Being a shy person, stepping forward took a long time: first Webtures, then my own name.

  14. 16 April 2019

WEBTURES LTD. We added WEBTURES LTD in the United Kingdom, a concrete step in Webtures' international development.

2020-2026 · The age of answers

  1. January 2020

The podcast begins. I started sharing my knowledge and experience in the Girişimci Kafası ile Kafa Sohbetler podcast.

  2. 2022

Founders Pledge. I joined Founders Pledge, to think more deliberately about what my entrepreneurial journey gives back to society.

  3. September 2022

Yapay Zeka Kafası. I founded Yapay Zeka Kafası to help people understand SI technologies and discuss their impact on business.

  4. 26 January 2024

The book. “Girişimci Kafasıyla Düşün” brought together twelve years of my entrepreneurial thinking.

  5. 2024

Brantial. We turned years of search experience to a new question, how does SI describe a brand?, and started building Brantial.

  6. November 2024

Yapay Zeka Kafası on TV. The programme started on Ekotürk, co-presented with Bilgi Özünal Yuva; our SI clones present the news too.

  7. 5 December 2024

An award. At GEA Awards 2024 I received the “CEO Who Inspires Young People” award.

  8. January 2025

Handing over the CEO role. After fourteen years as CEO of Webtures, I handed the role to Bilgi Özünal Yuva and focused on SI, next-generation search and product development.

  9. September 2025

Product Hunt. We launched Brantial to a wider international product community.

  10. 23 October 2025

Platin Business Books Awards. “Girişimci Kafasıyla Düşün” received the VakıfBank Special Award.

  11. 3 December 2025

Beyond Click. Brantial's launch event in Istanbul, where I gave the opening talk.

  12. March 2026

Back as CEO. After fourteen months, I returned as CEO of Webtures to lead its transformation for the age of superintelligence.

How these years shaped the way I work.

Every principle in my approach is a remnant of a mistake or a turning point.
