Method
The Selection Cycle
GEO, generative engine optimisation, is the work of making a brand appear correctly in the answers of ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and other superintelligence (SI) systems. The Selection Cycle is Kaan Gülten's working method for it: three steps, with measurement closing every round.
“The era of persuasion is over. The era of being selected has begun.”

Why now
From persuading people to being shortlisted by machines
Marketing is ceasing to be the work of persuading people. It is becoming the work of getting machines to put you on the shortlist. In the past, Kaan Gülten helped people and brands appear in search engines; today he focuses on how brands are understood, trusted and recommended by superintelligence. Those three verbs are the three steps.
The cycle
Understood · Trusted · Recommended, then measured
Be understood
Company, product and offer information in a form machines can read, in the customer's own language.
Be trusted
Third-party sources that mention you, concrete reviews, and wrong information corrected at its source.
Be recommended
Be one of the one or two companies in the answer, and the first to reply to the buyer who asks.
Measurement
At the end of every round: for which question, in which engine, next to whom do you appear?
Step 1
Be understood
Superintelligence describes a company correctly only when its information is clear, numerical, sourced and current. A website is no longer a shop window but a source of information that agents read, and the content has to be in the language the buyer speaks.
“What they all have in common: clear, numerical, sourced and current information.”

Start tomorrow morning
- Make company and product pages current, numerical and machine-readable.
- Write a clear offer an agent can read: samples, minimum order, payment terms, delivery.
- Publish content in German, Italian, English, Spanish and Arabic.
Step 2
Be trusted
Superintelligence looks less at what a brand says about itself and more at what others write about it: trade publications, supplier and review platforms, executives' own writing. Wrong information spreads the same way; to fix it, you go to the source that feeds it.
“They don't trust you; they trust the people who talk about you.”

Start tomorrow morning
- After every delivery, collect a concrete, sector-specific customer review.
- Be present on international supplier platforms, on Wikipedia and in trade publications.
- Have executives write on LinkedIn under their own names; put a factory tour on YouTube.
Step 3
Be recommended
There is no list in an SI answer; one or two companies are recommended. The recommended company is often the one that answers first and most clearly. This step is being able to reply to a buyer, or their agent, with prices and information within minutes.
“No list. One or two suppliers are recommended. If you're third, you don't exist.”

Start tomorrow morning
- Answer incoming requests in 5 minutes, not 42 hours.
- Build a system that gives an instant price range for standard products.
- Put an agent on your website that answers questions in the customer's language.
Closing every round
Measurement
Measurement is not a step but the work that closes the cycle. ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini are queried regularly with the questions customers would ask; the weakest step becomes the priority of the next round. What isn't measured stays invisible: you can never know about the quote you were never asked for.
“You know about the quotes you lose. But you can never know that you were never asked for one.”

- Query your company in ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini in the customer's language, and measure.
Kaan Gülten founded Brantial to measure and manage this shift: it tracks how brands appear in ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity answers and compares them with competitors.
